Women Need to GO VOTE!!!

Image
Alright my American women let's have a chat!! It's election time and I am here to tell you GO VOTE! They have curbside voting for those that can't come in to vote and don't want to \do mail in ballets (because those are being tossed out for the slightest of errors). They also have electronic voting for those worried about fake ballot boxes (like the republicans set up in California) or changing of the vote as was done last year. For my responsible citizens out there doing their civil duties of voting, I have a few tips to ensure your vote counts. After that this is the disclaimer that I am not a fan of Trump or the republican party right now and I will share why and some facts you should know before going out to vote. But FIRST, LET'S VOTE! 1. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE REGISTERED TO VOTE If you aren't already registered to vote, you can register here . If you are already registered, FANTASTIC! You are already a step ahead! 2. CHECK YOUR VOTER LOCATIONS.  You c...

#auratmarch #women'srights #MeToo

For those that are unaware, women in Mexico and Pakistan have been rising up against discrimination and abuse towards women. They have been fighting hard for their freedom and the backlash from governments have been disgusting. Originally I wasn't going to blog on this subject since it is such a sensitive topic, but today I started to see people having the nerve to MOCK these movements and now I am fuming and ready to speak up in behalf of my fellow women. First of all let me start off by saying that anyone who has the nerve to mock the abuse and suppression of women, regardless of gender, is a disgusting pig and does not have the empathy to deserve the title of being human. The parents of such monsters failed miserably in raising their children and should be ashamed of themselves for letting such disgusting creatures out into the world. But enough with the rant, lets talk about the issues these women are fighting against and the importance of each and every one. But I would sti...

The Difference Between a Queen and A Princess

Valentine's Day was a couple of days ago and I celebrated as a single and dressed up for myself rather than for someone else. Now someone assured me that I would find my person someday, and of course I wasn't worried about that. Now the most interesting thing this friend said is that he himself prefers a Queen that can make a king out of someone that isn't but see this is where I disagree...What he wants is a princess and NOT a Queen. So of course I immediately pulled out my laptop and started typing. If the title and this intro didn't already give it away, the topic for today is the the difference between a Queen and a Princess. I started off as a princess. I used to put the person I was with first, I would always put his happiness before mine. I would try to teach him to be responsible and to communicate and to be a more compassionate person. I would try to teach him the value of women and how to respect them, etc. But the story always ended the same. They would ne...

Queens Supporting Queens

How to Be the Realest YOU, you can be!

So this one is going to be one hell of a rant so sorry in advance! Scrolling through Facebook is a lot of fun until FB decides "I have a post I KNOW you'll love".... Dear FB you don't get me at ALL!! In case it isn't already EXTREMELY obvious, I am a strong willed feminist that believes I deserve more than a some guy who kind of sort of cares about me and only when I match his desires EXACTLY. So when I come across articles like "How to attract men" or "How to get your crush to notice you" my blood boils to explosive levels. First off, why are women writing these trash articles to began with? I'm sorry are you ENCOURAGING men to to undermine women?! Please princesses, step aside and let the Queens do their job. So in light of my pure hatred of this ridiculous culture of women having to chase men for attention, I decided to make my own blog about "How to be the realest You, you can be!" But first let me clarify that the reason...

The "sexiest" Halloween Costume is the most empowhering costume

Image
So a conversation that comes up a lot during Halloween season is the concept of "sexy" costumes for women. Men have regular costumes and everything is simply made sexy for women. It is infuriating to those who want to actually be scary or those who want a little less showing. Especially in a season where there are plenty of drunk pervs roaming the streets, not everyone feels safe wearing such costumes. So in spirit of one my favorite holidays, lets talk what "sexy" looks like for an empowered woman. 1. Women's iconic WW2 Symbol of Strength Of course what better way to represent the strength and courage of women then to be the Iconic image itself? During a time when women pretended to be men to fight for their country and at the same time hold up the fort and keep the economy going by running all the companies and working in the industries that were considered "jobs for men", the iconic simple of women and their ability to overcome all obstacles i...

Closing the cultural gap..... Focusing on similarities instead of differences

So for those that don't know, I am an Ismaili Muslim and like the Christian concept of Sunday school, we have Religious education on Saturdays. Now the teachers are expected to go through training to ensure that we teach the students facts and accurate information rather then opinions or perspectives. However, when I went into this training I realized that there was a fault in the training itself. Within teaching the facts, we somehow twisted the perspective based on emotional bias. When I was pitted against the trainer and the other teachers trying to explain my perspective, I felt something inside of me shift. The perspective you teach the students, regardless of the intent, does impact their view and emotional outlook on life because your emotional outlook on life will end up showing. Now why am I mentioning this on my blog today and what does it have to do with anything? Well as women we end up separating "our" problems with "their" problems based on race...
